Dear Ladies at The Cushman School Gala Committee,
We thank you for the opportunity to give this demonstration, so happy we had a fun Roaring 20's make-up class. We are honored to be able to contribute in some way with The Cushman School. Wishing you all the success at the Gala!
Here is the transcript of the demonstration, you can learn, too, how to "Transform Yourself into the Ultimate 1920's Girl!"
For a Beautiful Makeup you need a Beautiful Skin. Clean and Prep your Skin with Cleansing Water or Toner, Serum, Evening Cream, Eye Cream and apply Retexturizing Primer and / or Pore Primer.
The Secret of a Professional Make-Up is Corrector and Contouring. Hide any imperfection and Contour your face with Karamel Corrector Duo & Contour.
Facial features are viewed as a combination of light and shadows. By applying a dark tone, you create a false shadow, making it appear as if there is depth. The opposite is true for lighter tones: they act as highlights and trick the eye into thinking they stand out.
Create a flawless skin with Mineral Sheer Tint. The popular shade for face foundation was Pale peach and Cream shades, although Coco Chanel made Tan skin fashionable. Afterwards, use Powder Foundation to seal and reduce the need for frequent touch-ups. Powder Makeup Foundation helps you stay perfect for long periods of time. Remember Flappers loved Powder Makeup!
A fad at the time was to pluck the entire eyebrow and then draw it back with eyebrow pencil above the natural placement. Eyebrows were dark, thin and as long as possible. To get this look you can simply hide your eyebrows covering them with Corrector, Foundation and Powder, then draw your flapper eyebrow with brow pencil and seal with brown eye shadow.
Generally, for eyes was a strong dark makeup. Karamel Cosmetics created The Roaring 20’s Eye Shadow Palette specially for The Cushman School Gala, so you can create your perfect look. It all depends on your personal taste if you want to wear light eye shadows or a smoky eye. Curl eyelashes and apply 3 coats of mascara. For Jazzy eyes false eyelashes are a must!
For authentic “Rouge” apply deep rose or berry shade blush to the apples of your cheeks. Blend as little as possible.
In the 1920's, women wanted to shape their mouth into a cupid bow lip. You need to apply Corrector on the side of the lips to make your mouth smaller and then shape your lips with lip pencil making sure you accentuate the cupid bow on the upper lip. Apply cherry or raspberry red lipstick just to the center of the lips. Bright pink lips or deep brown are other possibilities for the roaring face.
Finish the look with a bobbed haircut (or a wig). This blunt cut was short, cut halfway between cheekbone and chin. Bangs could be swept to the side, slicked down into spit curls, or cut short and straight across. The entire look could also be slicked down and back or curled with finger waves. Two other hairstyles of the time were an Eton crop, very short with a single curl plastered above the ear, and the Shingle, that was much like the bob, yet the back was cut in a V-shape.
You are ready to make a statement and enjoy the party!
