Falling for Winter!
Yes, summer is gone, the warm months, sunny days and glowy tanned skin is fading, but if you are anything like me, you know that the upcoming season has its own charm. We get to spend time with family and friends, gather to celebrate different holidays, party and indulge in delicious food.
The coldest months of the year also call for a change beauty and fashion-wise. It’s the right time to make a statement with dark bold lips, smokey eyes and the latest trend for this season: metallics!
Don’t feel like going back to the 90’s? Think twice. Metallic shades are back, seriously. From lipsticks to eyeliner to nails, you can be anything but boring adding a little sparkler to your New Year’s Eve celebration look.
Deep bordeaux lips are also a chic yet sophisticated way to go this winter, but remember to choose only one feature of your face to be the attention seeker! If you are all about a bold eyeliner and a smokey eye, keep it simple with the lips.

Metallic shades are back, seriously.
Flawless skin is always the best foundation for a beautiful makeup and taking care of your skin is an all-year round duty, just like summer time calls for sun protection, in this time of the year you might need to reach for a more powerful moisturizer, since winter conditions are likely to dehydrate your skin making it look dry and flaky. Quench your skin’s thirst with a collagen or peptide rich cream to keep the skin hydrated and repair damage caused by environment conditions.
Always use a moisturizer before applying any makeup, besides the hydrating action this prevents pores from clogging! Remember: hydration before foundation!
CONCEALING party effects.
The so called “beauty sleep" is something we hear about often and it’s real. Aiming for at least good 7 hours of sleep each night can do A LOT for your skin’s health and the best part? It’s free! Lack of sleep cause blood vessels to dilate, causing the look of dark circles.
This time of the year brings tons of social events, parties and all of these accompanied by unhealthy food, alcohol and smoking -even if it’s second hand- affecting your skin in all ways. Alcohol affects sleep quality, leaving bags under your eyes. Smoking leads to premature wrinkles. Not to mention that your whole body suffers when you don’t get enough sleep.
When we sleep our body goes into repair mode, the skin renews itself growing new cells and replacing older ones giving you a fresh look the morning after. Feeding your skin with a good night cream is always a good help too! But let’s take a little pressure off our shoulders, certainly, there will be some days we will not get our “beauty sleep”, specially with all these upcoming events during the last days of the year, so, what can we do to keep our skin looking the best? CONCEAL.
Concealer is the ultimate first-aid product for skin’s beauty. Yes, you still need to go to the Doctor later, but at least it will keep you safe for the moment.
You can find different types of concealers out there, liquid, cream, stick. Cream concealer works better for dark circles, because of its texture, it provides full coverage to cope with the after-party signs. Liquid concealer is better for blemishes because it has a lighter texture and helps prevent additional breakouts while the stick type works better to cover discolorations around the nose and mouth.
After moisturizing, apply concealer to the undereye area with a clean finger, sponge or a small concealer brush, blend well and allow it to dry before applying foundation and powder.
And voilà! You are ready to rock a great winter skin and makeup.
